Best Places in Graz: Goesting Castle Ruins
Dear Alice,
Today I would like to recommend you another great place in Graz to spend your weekends, holidays or your free days: and that is the Goesting Castle Ruins. Located in the north of Graz, this beautiful place will welcome you with a very rustic and magnificent vibe that will enchant you for a long time. So do not hesitate to visit it (as soon and as often as you can).
I would highly recommend you to visit the Goesting Castle Ruins at least once during the autumn season, as the views and the landscapes are quite unique during this time, due to the beautiful colors of this amazing season. Along with this, here are my further recommendations concerning visiting the Goesting Castle Ruins in Graz:
- Organize your trip in the morning or in the early afternoon. To begin with, I would recommend you to organize your visit to the Goesting Castle Ruins in the morning or in the early afternoon, the views are amazing before the sunset. The hike to the ruins starts at the bottom of the hill and it lasts around 20-30 minutes depending on your physical condition. It is not a difficult hike, maybe bit demanding, but it is definitely worth it. Both the landscapes over the old ruins and the views over the city of Graz are amazing, when you reach the top of the hill.
- Take the time to visit the tavern at the castle ruins as well. There is a very-welcoming tavern at the castle ruins, where you can enjoy several refreshing drinks and some delicious food. Just for curiosity, you should know that this place runs out of electricity. It is a wonderful place to just sit, relax and enjoy the beauties that nature has to offer us.
- Visit the castle as well, and climb up to the tower of the castle ruins to enjoy some further magnificent panoramic views. The entrance to the castle is free, so you should use the chance to visit it. If you climb to the top of the castle tower, you will also enjoy some amazing panoramic views, that will transport you in another dimension. Just make sure to plan your trip before 18,00 o’clock since the castle closes after this time.
- For cat lovers: Be aware, at the tavern of the castle ruins lives also a family of cats, that are extremely friendly and cute, so you might definitely fall in love with this place 🙂 .
And just to be sure I can convince of this place and its beauties, have a look at some snapshots taken from my last hike to the Goesting Castle Ruins a couple of weeks ago. Yes, autumn has its own charm that I just love.
Sincerely yours,
Madalina
