Best Recipes: Bread Casserole with Sour Cherries

Today I will share with you a delicious recipe and that is the bread casserole with sour cherries recipe. I love this recipe especially in the evening, it is extremely tasty and you can enjoy it with warm home-made vanilla sauce.

INGREDIENTS (2 Portions)

  • 3 Bread Rolls
  • 200 ml Milk (either Almonds Milk or normal Milk, as you prefer)
  • 2 Eggs
  • 2 Spoons Brown Sugar
  • 1 Teaspoon Lemon Juice
  • 1 Teaspoon Lemon Zest
  • 50 grams Butter
  • 150 grams Sour Cherries (from Compote). Alternatively you can use other fruits that you prefer, i.e. raspberries, strawberries.

PREPARATION

  1. Cut the bread rolls in small pieces and mix them with the milk in a bowl.
  2. Separate the egg yolks from the egg white. Mix the butter with the sugar, the lemon zest and the egg yolks. Separately, beat the egg whites with the lemon juice until you get a smooth egg white foam.
  3. Add the egg-yolks mixture to the bread-milk mixture and mix them together. Then add the egg white foam, and in the end the sour cherries mixing all the ingredients together until you get a smooth composition.
  4. Preheat the oven to 180 grades Celsius. Add the bread composition in a buttered tray form and bake the casserole for 45 minutes in the oven. After 30 minutes add a cooking foil to the tray so as to avoid an over baking of the casserole, and bake it further.
  5. Enjoy the casserole with warm home-made vanilla sauce.
